I bought a Nikon fe from my local camera store for 25$ out of the parts bin. Mechanically everything works and looks good. I tried the simple thing first of cleaning the battery compartment and putting in a new set of batteries, but I still don’t get any response.

No battery indicator light
Light better does nothing
Shutter speed doesn’t change( defaults to mechanical 1/90)

I read that broken wire that connects from the battery compartment to the main pcb could be the problem. Has anyone fixed this before. I’m willing to pull off the base plate and do some basic soldering.

If there are any other potential fixes to this problem I would like to know.
