Turbo / Boost Leak ID

Howdy ST brethren.

Was kicking it onto the highway yesterday and suddenly she was accelerating like I was driving through molasses. Noticed my turbo wasn’t engaging. Shifted around, still nothing. Felt like I was in limp mode. But after kicking it around a bit into different gears my boost came back and stuck with me for a 2 hour drive.

I’m at ~74K miles. Did the symposer delete about a month ago, thought I did a pretty clean job of it. How do I ID the location of what I assume is a boost leak?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Hey all,

I've been rocking a 3" Roush exhaust on my 2016 FoST since 2017. It's resonated, but no muffler. I love the tone of the exhaust, but the highway drone is killing me, my hearing, and my passenger princess. My area in Pennsylvania is hilly, so the exhaust sounds like a helicopter chugging below me when I'm at low RPM in 5th/6th on the highway at 70mph+.

Recently the FSWerks Stealth kit has caught my eye (ear?), and the AWE Touring Resonated model looks appealing too. But they're both 3" kits, which I hear may be part of the problem. Am I still going to get that drone? I don't really like the tone of the 2.5" exhausts generally, but if that's my only option...

Thanks in advance for your wisdom / experience.

EDIT: Compiling a list of exhausts that seem to definitively match the "no drone" criteria:

Ford Performance Exhaust 2.5" - $1,250
- Low, throaty tone
- Resonated and muffled, (almost) identical to Borla
*** Some users report potential drone with upgraded downpipe due to small resonator

Invidia Q300 3" - $1,400
- Low, mild, gurgly tone
- Has a large muffler to counteract drone

Milltek (Dual Resonator) 3" - $1,700
- Quiet, but dynamic and fairly aggressive
- Dual resonators and muffler eliminate drone
