The North Star Rises: Book 1:The North Star Rises, Part 1: A Meeting in the Fells

READ BEFORE STARTING ik I yap alot but theres some stuff I want to say ig: Before you read I want to say a few things, since this is my first post in terms of lore. Whilst I have recently come to post many wizardposts and memes and just general wizard content (idk how known I am in this sub xd Ive only been here like less than a month) I have been wanting to do some more genuine effort and thoughtful posts. I really love creative writing and thought itd be cool to share here what I have started writing, in installments, as I write it.

This being said I have had this idea for a atoru since before I came here, and so I do not know whether it is really a good fit for the kind of stories that are told on this sub. I would therefore like to know whether it fits. It has magic under the idea of 'imaginings' and so the users are 'wizards' of a sort but I call them 'imaginers'. The aesthetic is very different but since its a story about magic users, even if they are referred to differently, I thought to post it here.

As a result of all this, please tell me if this does not fit the vibe of this sub as it is rather different I feel to some of the peak loreposts and storytelling I have seen on this sub.

TLDR: I'm new, don't know whether my story fits the sub, and am fine to take it down without delay or dispute if this vibe of storytelling does not feel in line with the general vibe of the sub.

Part 1: A Meeting in the Fells

It was the depth of winter in Fjallrheu when they gathered in the great hall at Fjallhold, and in centuries to come, when her mind was faded, an engine for a will that had long since disappeared, she would through that haze look back on these fleeting moments, and try to divine where she had made the mistakes that had led to the present.

The snow flung itself through the air, carried by a sharp and icy wind that threatened at any moment to tear away that outpost of civilisation that held itself impossibly half way up the fell. Stjarna’s coat was swept back behind her as she finally, at long last and against the will of nature reached the grand hall that would be their meeting place. Though isolated, the hall had a great warmth about it, and, finally reaching the threshold, she took one glance back at the vast wilderness of the fells and entered in to the warmth. A great celebration was in process in the main hall, of the kind that is customary in Fjallrheu to celebrate the life of a just passed king. She glanced around the hall, where a fire was lit in the hearth at one side of the cavernous space, along the tables where a great many drinks and freshly hunted foodstuffs were laid out in such wealth as even the nobility can not generally afford in such a harsh clime. She, however, had not come for this feasting. Rather, having discerned the face of Arnar, her brother in conspiracy, and having shared a knowing glance that could barely contain the outrage and excitement of what they were about to do, she followed him from a distance. He wore the garb of the high nobility, like herself, although he was of an older family, with the emblem of a bear toppling a mountain marking him as one of the sons of the house of Dalr. She was led, still keeping a distance, from a well lit passageway down a set of stairs where the warmth from the main hall and the light from the upstairs could barely reach. Lighting a torch he suddenly turned around, having been silent and serious up until now, suddenly spoke in a barely whispered tone. ‘My friend! It has been too long! I am happy to see, however, that the harshness of war did not fall too badly on you. Indeed, I have heard that you have developed a certain reputation amongst the foes of our now departed monarch.’

She embraced him with that warmth that can only be seen between comrades in the greatest of ideals and spoke, similarly half-failing to contain her whisper. ‘It is great to see you here too, I must say I had some fear that you would be held back by your house in the capital at Fjallhold. But let us talk at greater length when everyone is present, for I believe we have a great many schemes to scheme in light of all these events.’

‘Yes, of course, we have found a room that should be well enough hidden, it’s just around this corner.’

In this manner they walked for a further quarter hour in the darkness, illuminated only by the torch that he held, and spoke of each other, the war and all the key topics that interested them, favourite walks in the fells that had gone untrodden too long due to their business, favourite drinks that had gone undrunk for too long and all the particular places and sensations of their homeland that for five long years had been denied them by the will of the dead king who at this moment was being held in high regard in the revelry upstairs.

Finally they reached a second threshold, and casting open the door, putting out the torch and throwing his coat on to a stand seemingly in one fluid motion Arnar entered the room where twenty or so radicals, sons and daughters of the nobility had all gathered. ‘We have everyone!’ he shouted to a great cheer in the room, ‘now my friends, we can consider the plot we have for so long shored in our minds.’ Greeting her friends amongst the radicals as she sat down, she poured a beer from a mighty vessel that one of the conspirators, she imagined probably Arnar, had been so kind as to smuggle from the feast upstairs, though quite how this feat had been accomplished she could only guess at. He then spoke ‘Though we are all of noble lineage ourselves, the noble families, OUR families, have run this country in to the ground through their constant demands on the monarchy, with the hereditary system that this, our great country Fjallrheu, as been under the yoke of for so long. There is much to be decided about how this country ought to be run, and I know that all of you gathered here will have your own perspectives, but one thing is clear, we and our thoughts, our imagings, are more the future of this country that the failed hereditary system, and the opportunity of power transfer can allow us to destroy the current monarchy and determine everything with our own hands and thoughts’

With this having been said a fever of ideas and thoughts ran through the room. The discussion moved in the warmth of that room for the long hours of that night from first the means by which they were going to execute the seizing of power, which was the thing that was first in most of their minds, and as the night drew on and the fire lit on a pile of wood arranged in the centre of the room began to die down the discussion moved on what their plans were for afterwards, what should be done to the monarchy and how they planned on governing. Stjarna and Arnar discussed passionately but with no ill will alongside some of the others whether the system of the throne should be maintained. Arnar said it ought to be completely destroyed whilst Stjarna, animated in friendly discourse, preferred the idea of her and Arnar ruling with the other conspirators as their commanders and Jarls, a theory justified by the fact that they were the greatest of the group by the admission of them all and the ones that initially created the group of revolutionaries. The discussion was beginning to get fiercer when one of Arnar’s friends that he had brought in spoke with a certain fear, having remembered something. ‘What will we do about the Imperial Konungadr. The person who is behind that imagined form has the incredible power and is the greatest and most experienced general in more than a generation, and due to hiding his identity other than his imagined form he impossible to assasinate. Asides from him, there are 6 people in Fjallrheu who have imagined forms, and we only have one of those.’ He said looking at Stjarna, whose impressive feats in the war had earned her some status in the small clique of radical nobles, most of all impressing herself. Stjarna responded ‘We are past the age where experience was a virtue, the glaciers are melting, and being well used to standing on them does not give you an advantage.’ Arnar laughed and Stjarna shared a wry grin with him, both of them finding the only half joking hubris very typical of Stjarna amusing. Whether it was hubris or a correct evaluation of her power was yet to be seen.

It was the depth of night when the meeting finally ended, and the spirits were high in anticipation of the next few days. The fire that had illuminated the room was all but expired as the conspirators, having assigned each other their roles in the conflict, departed. Stjarna wrapped her coat around her and voiced what she was wondering to Arnar and to those around them ‘I wonder when we shall all meet again?’ and then, with everyone gathering for a final farewell ‘I wish you all luck in your battles, and I’m sure we will see each other soon, in Fjallhold after all of this is quickly finished.’ Then, with warm parting words having been said, all of the gathering left their own separate ways, disappearing in the cold of the night separately through different openings from the cellar complex. As Stjarna opened the door out in to the night from underneath the main hall the stars and the whole cosmos unfolded before her, despite the biting cold and the harsh days that lay ahead, she looked up to the sky, smiled and gently laughed gazing out in to the universe, for she knew it now lay all to her. A strange feeling of power surged through her, in that beautiful sense of power to make the world as you had always wished it to be. Then, holding a lantern she disappeared in to the snows and the night.

If everybrim were offered a choice between a red spell and a blue spell, where the red spell ensures your own memory doesnt get erased whilst the blue spell ensures that everyone's memory doesnt get erased if over 50% of people vote for it, otherwise everyone who votes blue gets their memory erased

Yes this is peak ragebait, yes I'm late to this stupid trend, yes I know that the ink cannot be red or blue and so the idea of a 'red spell' or a 'blue spell' is inaccurate I just want to see the world burn in the comments as a result of this stupid trend.

Please dont take this seriously and if you don't know the trend already then I truly envy you.

Do any of my fellow Brimhats here keep brushbugs

They're so adorable!!!

Also very useful for detecting spells of course. Was wondering if any of the brimhats here kept one, and if so, what's their name and a bit about your brushbug?

'I love working overtime' ass wizard (credit to zikgeek on instagram as artist)

Yes the title is a jjk reference(Nanami my goat)

Credit ought to go to bonnymama for this art, the title was wrong and a kind commenter corrected me to help give the true artist rightful credit for this work. Sorry for my mistake everyone.

Do you think Brimhat Coco will ever become a reality?

I've seen some speculation on this from other Witch Hat Atelier fans and wonder whether you think the saviour of the brimhats will ever actually join the brimhats.

New Post Flair: Roleplaying Flair

Pretty self explanatory, the one thing I will say is that you can roleplay as Pointed Hats with this flair too and so whilst the only agenda and memes have to be brimhatposts pointed hats can now engage with the sub!

All fellow Brimhats, if you have a brimhat OC post art and maybe some lore under this post!

I'd love to see all of our creations! (I'm not artistically skilled myself, hence the lack of any of my own art, although I might do some writing if I feel inspired to do so in the future)
