First United flight under my belt and I have a question.

I just flew from Haneda to Chicago and I was impressed with the space in economy. I have a disability which means the seat space in economy is always important, so I was really happy with that. However, the food… It was awful. I have flown a lot of airlines, but I have really never had food this bad. Is it always like this in economy? (I never fly business, as I can’t afford it, so please don’t tell me how wonderful it is. I need to know for economy class.) This is not a make-or-break issue. I just need to honestly know so that I can prepare for the future, should I fly United again.

Edit: Thank you for your feedback. Now that I am aware, I will make sure I pack food. Cost of the ticket is a big factor, as I travel a lot for pleasure. This really is the first time the food has simply been inedible. Luckily i did have snacks and the buns were edible. I always thought Air Canada won at the bad food award, but it’s nice (?) to know that it isn’t the bottom of the barrel.
