The Adult Adoptee Space - A Discord Community

My name is Sarah Hope. I am a domestic infant adoptee, taken 1,000 miles away from my Cajun roots and raised in the Midwest United States. As a young child, I often felt like the loneliest person in the world. I had a hard time understanding why I felt so different and held shameful feelings that there was something wrong with me.

When I finally began to engage with the adoptee community, my world opened and blossomed with an awareness that I was not alone, and that there was nothing wrong with me. Building relationships and being in community with other adult adoptees has filled my life with healing and a passion for inspiring and supporting spaces where adult adoptees can find community with one another.

I would love to thank The Mods, who have approved my request to share this with the r/adopted community, and invite all adult adoptees here, to join the newly created Discord community: The Adult Adoptee Space.

This community was built by adult adoptees, for adult adoptees. It is a space committed to fostering genuine connection through compassion, empathy, and curiosity. We hold space for all adult adoptees who are looking for a place to connect, find support, and share their story with others who truly understand the complexity of this experience.

We have laid the groundwork — a server built with intention, offering many different ways to show up, share, and be heard through chat threads, support forums, storytelling spaces, and more. But a community is nothing without its people, and we just need you to make it what it is meant to be.

If this interests you, we would love to be in community with you. 💛
