I was in a shared rental where I paid my deposit to the main tenant (not directly to the landlord). When we moved out, the landlord returned the full deposit, but the main tenant kept €170 from my share for a “cleaning fee” that was never disclosed to me and never agreed in writing(property management never provided the full lease). I challenged it, but she refused to return it.
It’s not a huge amount, but it’s more about principle at this point. Has anyone gone through small claims for something like this, and is it worth pursuing to see someone get their comeuppance for outright stealing?
