Favorite Pokémon by Type Day 3: Grass

Since my first 2 posts got good attention keeping the series going with a birthday edition of my grass type Pokémon ranking. As a reminder it’s final forms only. Excited to hear thoughts.

Favorite Pokémon by Type Day 2: Water

Since I got decent traction on my post ranking my favorite fire types, decided to keep the series going with Water. Reminder that it’s final forms only.

Excited to hear people’s thoughts

Favorite Fire Types

So I was thinking of doing a series depending on how much traction this gets. But I went and ranked my favorite fire types (final forms only). Curious to hear peoples thoughts and if gets good discussion can post new type each day.

  1. D&P-This is the one I grew up watching. Idk if it was one for that reason, but on rewatch it held up. It was a reminder of why Infernape is my favorite Pokémon. It feels so totally different so nearly any other series. Dawn and Brock are the 2 best companions. I loved watching all of Dawns contests as well. Could go on and on.

  2. XY-All I heard was how amazing XY was. So I decided to give it a watch and was blown away. The animation is top tier. The stretch of episodes from Ash vs Sawyer to team flare conclusion is probably my favorite stretch of episodes in entire anime. I only rank it behind D&P because it took a bit for me to settle in on things. Bonnie was annoying to me at first, but by the end was great. Similar with Serena, she was just there, nothing but in love with Ash but when she got her own arc I grew to really like her. Clemont was great from the get go, his moment saving Luminose was a perfect end for his arc. After XY I watched D&P to compare the 2. And after D&P I decided to watch rest of seasons in order (not my original plan)

  3. Battle frontier. Short arc, but every battle was awesome. Some of Ash’s best battles in entire show. Kanto contests were an improvement from Hoenn imo and Max was less annoying.

  4. Sun and moon. Coming into the series I knew it was more a SOL series, that Ash doesn’t have a full battle in the league, and the new art style. I thought this would be bottom 2 series for me. I was wrong. Blown away by it. I loved the vibe of the show. Loved his Pokémon. The relationships he built with Kukui and Burnet were amazing and different seeing Ash with a family that wasn’t just the group feeling like siblings. Plus the Lille stuff was great, Gladion was an awesome rival, I loved Kiawe, and of course the final battle. I am happy I didn’t let my bias cloud my judgement bc this series rocked.

  5. Hoenn. It’s a fun series. Nothing is overly memorable about it, but the league was good and moments like Thunder armor, Pikachu learning iron tail, and a serious training arc after losing to Brawly. Brock is still great and I really enjoy May’s character.

  6. Kanto. It’s nostalgia which keeps it high. But if we’re being honest there’s just too much bs for it to be higher. Still there is plenty of charm.

  7. Johto. Bogged down by 2 things: too much filler and lack of development for Johto mons. I know no one’s ever had that opinion on Johto before. But still the gym battles and league battles are satisfying as Ash isn’t winning on cheap gimmicks. It’s also fun seeing Ash in a cocky mindset during this as we don’t see it often, but is fitting for him being a young trainer.

  8. Journeys. I breezed through it. Anytime Goh was on my screen I wanted an Ursaring to come out of nowhere and just rip in half. So I skipped most episodes besides WC battles and training episodes/non Goh or Chloe episodes. So short watch. I watched Masters 8 when it dropped on Netflix in 2023, but after watching his journey (and starting with that XY loss) it was so much more satisfying. I love Ash’s ultra class and Masters 8 battles, but between Goh taking screen time and the weird ranking system (like how does Ash jump ahead of the trainer he just beats previous ranking by quite a few numbers) the series is weighed down.

  9. Orange islands. Love Charizard finally obeying Ash and Drake battle is peak, but just too much filler and Tracy is so boring.

  10. Unova. Nothing to be said that hasn’t been said about this series. It got to the point where I was on my phone during episodes (something I avoided with other series) and had episodes on in background while I did something else.

If you read this thank you and excited to hear what everyone else has to say
