The engine from my 2000 E46 330D Touring is out and it’s time for a full rebuild. After all these years, my old man deserves it. We’ve been together for almost 20 years, and he’s been through a lot of shit life threw at me. There was even a time I had to sleep in the trunk with the back seats folded down when I had to move out from my ex. We’ll do everything that makes sense and whatever it turns out to need.

I’ll definitely be replacing the clutch and dual-mass flywheel, silent blocks, rebuilding the turbo, and quite possibly the crankshaft bearings.
We’ll measure compression first, then decide… injectors, piston rings and cylinders, oil separator, valve cover, intake, oil pan, timing components, cylinder head.

Some people would call me crazy for putting this kind of money into such an old car, but hey, I love him.

Is there anything specific you’d recommend checking or doing while the engine is out that I haven’t mentioned?
