How to decipher this sort of lock that’s already open?

How to decipher this sort of lock that’s already open?

How to decipher an unlocked lock of this kind?

One of those locks I never knew the combination for. The other we knew the combination, but after using it to get a ”feel” for how it should work, it doesn’t lock anymore. Can I have destroyed the lock, or just accidentally changed the combination?

Bought another old bike, what _needs_ fixing, and what to adjust?

Never done anything on a derailleur before, it’s an old Shimano ALTUS LT with friction shifters. Apart from cleaning, I’m guessing the derailleur need more tension?

The gearing is not to my liking, can I convert this from a 2x6 to e.g. a 1x7? I feel like both front sprockets are either too big or too small right now.

Sorry for my crude sketch, but:

I’m thinking of putting up IKEA Vidga curtains, and then electrify them.

I would anchor each curtain in the outer corners (green on the sketch) so they could only be opened or closed from the middle.

Using a looping string, I would attach e.g. the upper string to the right curtain and the lower part of the string to the left. This way both curtains would always travel the opposite direction.

The motor would be controlled by e.g. an ESP32 and a motor controller, using either sensorless stops by detecting current spikes, or use an endstop sensor. I would connect it all to mains, so no battery needed, and then let Home Assistant send commands.

Are there anything about this that would be much harder than expected, or any other pitfalls?

I would love some recommendations for electric motor+controller, I already have some spare ESP32’s.

EDIT: Maybe should mention that it will be used in a 77 square meter apartment, with one or two accesspoints connected to it. Two computers, one phone, one TV, and then some smaller appliances (robot vacuum, smart lights and other small devices, maybe a NAS or harddrive connected as well). I would, in relation to many other home networkers, say that my use case is fairly light, mainly streaming YouTube or other streaming services, with the peaks being downloading new games through steam, or downloading/uploading other bigger files (e.g. photographs or videos from our sport events).

I need to update from my AirPort Extreme (2009), lol.

Speedwise it seems like one of the faster routers? I have gigabit fibre at home, and running most things wireless with Ubiquiti AP’s (to be updated as well).

I’m soon getting Matter over Thread devices from IKEA, will the be3 be able to do the connection part between the Matter devices and Home Assistant?

Could I also use this to replace my old Synology NAS somehow? I also saw that it has container support, will that affect the Ethernet speeds?

I don’t really have a lot of other requirements, but this one caught my eye because of the speed and price point.

I was running Home Assistant with another system in my last some. Since moving, the only smart things are now my LG CX TV and a couple of self made ESP32 devices, so I can ”choose ecosystem” right now.

I’ve read about network problems and devices dropping the connection, but what is the state of the ”new” devices (I guess Matter over Thread)? If I buy smart bulbs, electric plugs, light switches and motion sensor, and want to integrate it all with Home Assistant, will it be stable for everyday use now?

Tomorrow we’ll stream three games, streamed from a laptop with OBS Studio. Plan is to stream to YouTube. We won’t have a dedicated person for streaming (static camera). I’ll be setting it up, and also play the second game myself.

I’m not sure what would be the easiest option:

Either I’ll just start one long livestream while also saving the recording on disc, splitting and uploading the replays later.

Or I would prepare three streams and switch before the second and third game.

Any input on how to do this is welcome, also links to guides for setting it up. Logging in to YouTube on OBS vs using stream key or something? Recommended settings? Will probably record in 1080p60.

If I preview an email, the notification stays in the notification center.

If I preview an SMS, it disappears from the notification center, and the badge disappears from the Messages app.

How can I preview without losing the badge and notification?
