Call out or Tolerate? Iloilo City Universities and Colleges

There are schools I have experienced here in Iloilo City, and heard stories and testimonies from my friends and from my wife of the environment of some universities or colleges in the universities... and it led me to ask this question for my fellow Ilonggos.

Honest question: If a place for learning becomes a place where you are constantly tormented everyday just because your peers are jealous of you, jealous because you are getting high grades, spread baseless rumors about you just because they are jealous of you, stare at you na parang gusto ka nila e bring down and are actually bringing you down, say derogatory things about you just because you are doing well in the place of learning... Is that place still worthy to be in? Is it still conducive for learning? Should we still stay silent and romanticize that these are "challenges" to make you stronger and just let these negative behavior proliferate just because na tolerate natin sila? Or should we call it out, bring the negative behavior to light and actually bring to attention these rowdy individuals for tormenting honest learners?

Because honestly? I don't care if the school's name will be mentioned and called out. Because if the school or the college won't be made known of the kind of individuals or students that they have, or the situation of their student body... is it still worthy for honest learners who just want to achieve their dreams to stay in that kind of school? Because honestly? This is one of the reasons people with high potential commit suicide. Because of tormenting from their peers.

Something to ponder about.

P.S. and to those who think this is not related to Iloilo, think again. I am bringing awareness here and some of you just want to shut posts down. Gising.

Bashed for honest work? Is this Filipinos hating on other's success?

Hello again everyone! So, my wife just finished getting her grades in law and she got the highest grade on tax. I am so proud of her. Then suddenly two people, babae at tsaka gay person, pointed out that her grades were questionable and they started hating on her. Tapos di pa niya naman mga classmate yun! I know my wife and she worked so hard day and night. She even expressed her anxiety on tax kasi she hates that subject. Tapos when all her hardwork has paid off, sabihan lang na questionable? Nag calculator? Nakakabobo lang?

Sorry ha. Call out ko talaga pero USA College of Law, ganyan ba future lawyers niyo? Binibring down fellow future lawyers niyo? I think its time to assess mga attitude ng future lawyers niyo. Nakakagigil. I dont care if competitive attitude. Pero to accuse someone you barely know na nag cheat sa exam? HAHAHA NAKAKATAWA

Catcallers of all ages, sexes, and genders are DISGUSTING

I just want to get this out here so that it will also act as a warning and babala to all people dito sa Iloilo City.

As the title says this is about catcallers. Of all ages, of all sexes and genders. Absolutely disgusting.

My wife and I are both studying our postgraduate courses in different schools here in the city. There have been so many incidents wherein my wife got catcalled by students from within the university, outside the university, inside the hotel she is living in... and that is absolutely not okay. Sorry, I am already calling it out here. But seriously? Law students, nursing students, senior high school students, medical students... just almost giving her uncomfortable and creepy stares, disgusting remarks like "sayang, kakatuli ko lang" while they are looking at my wife, or "paldo! sarap siguro pag umaalog yun." and even advances like "may boyfriend ka na? or asawa? oh meron? sige na one time lang, di need ma bal.an sang partner mo." and even one time ha, my wife told me that an unknown individual from a different university came to her university and TOOK A PICTURE OF HER FROM AFAR WITHOUT HER CONSENT. good thing her classmate saw this individual and chased him down. Turns out her classmate knows this person and that, take a guess, tada! may miga. Tapos baw sa kadamak gin pakita ya pa picture sang asawa ko sa kagrupo niya tapos naga comment nga "ang sarap." UGH!

LIKE SERIOUSLY? ITS PEOPLE LIKE THESE THAT FUEL MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND TOTALLY ABHOR THESE KIND OF PEOPLE. Imagine, senior high, old people, professionals alike.. Damak!

not only that. I also experienced that within my university as a medical student. "Hi! single ka? gwapo simo.. patilaw one time bi." or "may miga ka na? buenas siya guro kay feel ko dako imo..." AND THEY THINK THIS IS OKAY?? WHAT HAPPENED TO BASIC ETIQUETTE AND HUMAN DECENCY? Waay ni siguro kaagi disiplina.

This is the exact reason why I have been sort of a... "vigilante" in this kind of aspect. as someone who really loves my wife, I am really protective of her. I take note of every incident my wife experiences and I take note of mine. I just really hope there are people out here in Iloilo City who share my sentiment and disgust toward catcallers and they need to be put to shame for making other people uncomfortable. Sa mga kadamak na panghuna-huna.

What are your experiences? How did you handle them? Can there be any legal action toward these people?

Learn to stand up for yourselves guys! Learn self defense too.
