Lufthansa A380 Refurbished Business Class Cabin Review!

I flew the new A380 retrofit on 04/27/26 ! It’s VERY pretty and the seats and quite spacious. The bulkhead seats do carry a significant increase in legroom and in footwell space in bed mode. I was seated in 24K which is the bulkhead row in the mini cabin towards the back of the plane on the upper deck.

Word of caution! The bulkhead seats in the very first row of business class (row 10 I believe) have an odd layout. The seat is very close to the isle, there are bulky pieces of hardware fairly exposed underneath the side table / shelf that take away from your available space and it’s directly next to the lavatory.

I was really happy with my selection of row 24 - significantly superior layout with seat close to window, far from isle and no bulky pieces of hardware in my space.

I flew the BOS -> MUC route. The crew immediately noticed I was taking pics / video and asked if I wanted a picture. I instantly confessed I’m an Av Geek and they showed me all around the seat and took some pics for me! They’re very excited about the refurbishment too it seems. They’re relieved to be moving on from the 2-2-2 config.

I found the seat to be nice ! I’m wide in the shoulders and had no problem in bed mode. Service was great - attentive but not in your face. I’d really happily fly the refurbished A380 again - the business class pods are so wide it was reminding me of Singapore air’s seats at times (although the seat on SQ is definitely superior).

There is no privacy door but you don’t really need it to be honest, at least for the seat I was in. You couldn’t see any of the other passengers.

Overall - I paid 42,000 points and ~$400 via Air Canada for this flight and I would definitely do it again! Worth it for sure. The lounge experience in Boston is great as well - you board directly from the lounge and walk right onto the upper deck! So cool!

Small tangent below —
I was talking to one of the flight attendants and they mentioned and interesting nugget about the upcoming allegris first product on the 747-8.

They said that they’re planning to create a double bed in the nose cone of the plane and basically create a private room experience. They said first class will only have 4 seats on the 747-8! If true, that’s a 50% reduction from 8 -> 4 seats.

Will be interesting to see how accurate this intel is once the real plans are announced.
