Grande Prairie regional hospital fails to sterilize instruments and cancels surgeries and procedures unless life threatening

Looks like the good nurses, doctors and surgeons have pushed back against some rotten apples in the high ranks of our new hospital management and executive after discovering that tools and instrument’s are being used without being properly sterilized.

Apparently some of the high ranks have known that the equipment, possibly boilers and steam systems have had problems for at least a year and possibly multiple years and without anyone making it a priority to to have repairs and maintenance ordered. There may also be a lack of training and leadership of the people and supervisors that work in the sterilization dept.

Rumours are that all surgeries and procedures are cancelled until further notice unless they are life threatening….

AHS will most likely try to cover this up like the slimy snakes they are to protect each other and point a finger at the front line workers, the only people who care and who refuse to work in these conditions and refuse to perform/assist with surgeries/procedures that put the patient at risk of infection and possibly worse.

I would imagine this corruption will be public eventually and heads will roll as this is very embarrassing and shocking for our community.

Let’s do all we can to support the amazing Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Lab techs, Cleaning crews and everyone with Integrity and pride trying to do the right thing and stand up to the upper managements disgusting practices.
