About the game
The Sword Coast is home to millions of ordinary folk, each striving to carve out a life in this wild stretch of land. Farmers toil in their fields, traders broker their deals, and lords & ladies assert their authority. Yet every so often, a band of heroes arises. These are the individuals who alter the course of fate that is destined upon Toril, whether by providence or sheer luck. They usurp the designs and plans of those who would drag the world into darkness and peril. Their deeds echo through the ages, their names enduring long after their final breath.
Surely, this is not their story.
For you are but a simple adventurer, contacted by an old acquaintance, Gundren Rockseeker. However it came to pass that this dwarvern entrepreneur entered your life, he now seeks your aid. He and his brothers intend to reclaim their ancestral home in Phandalin, establishing a base of operations for future ventures. The frontier town's provisioner has requested a set of materials and tools to get started, a wagonload that you are set to deliver. Ten gold pieces is hardly lavish, but the promise of profitable work in the days ahead makes the offer difficult to ignore.
Accepting the contract, you settle into the taverns of Neverwinter's Underbelly, partaking in the merriment, rumors, and liquor that flow like water. Grand tales are told of bandits, outlaws, and goblins sighted off the High Road's protections, common dangers for those that travel outside of town. These are precisely the reason that your services have been requested. Gathering what information you can, you spend the rest of the evening among strangers, sharing drinks or relishing the rowdy company until the final bell tolls. At last, you make for your bed and the necessary preparations for the journey ahead.
Since amongst the forests and hills surrounding Phandalin, something sinister stirs.
Howdy, fledgling adventurers!
I'm looking to start my first ongoing PBP game, using the Phandelver & Below: The Shattered Obelisk module as the setting. I also found that Dragon of Icespire peak can be woven pretty well into the Phandalin region and will be utilizing many of it's quests as well! While I have DM'ed games before, I have not run successfully this specific type of layout and am expecting to run into some transitional pains while learning. To that end, I'll be hoping the players offer feedback about things that they like, what they don't, and what else they'd like to see!
You're free to check out my prior posts, in which you'll see I've attempted to get this game running twice before. I'm not seeking to hide this, I have most definitely made some blunders and mistakes in getting games together, but I am dedicated to attempting to get one working and having a fun time guiding y'all through the wonderful world of Phandalin!
About Me
I got into D&D specifically a little over a year ago now, but immediately fell for the DM'ing aspect of the game. Driving me to spin up a couple campaigns of my own, mostly made up of other users from this very site. It's become a big hobby for me and I just adore getting to explore different characters and bringing their personalities to life!
Game Style
While I'm still working to refine what does and does not work for PBP, especially given a crunchier system like D&D 5E, my current layout basically depends on the players stated intentions. Asking for their intention going into an interaction and if they wish to pre-roll for any expected outcomes, then trying to implement this in the best and most flowing way possible to keep the game moving.
Expectations
Experience: All experience levels are welcome!
Age: 18+ (Not looking to create an ERP game, but would like not to need to monitor everyone's interactions.)
Respect: Be kind, be flexible, and support each other. No intolerance or disruptive behavior.
Post Frequency: The goal is to have each player post Once / Daily, but I am completely understanding that there are times we are unable to get to the campaign.
Content Warnings: Standard D&D themes. Violence, Danger, and Mature situations within reason and with lines/veils as needed.
AI: I do not support anyone utilizing AI to generate Art, Backstories, or interactions. I do my best to ensure that the NPC art I pull from online and patreons comes from illustrators and while I will not be perfect either, I ask that you do the same and put the best foot forward when it comes to these matters.
