So in about February I finished 6 and half years of braces and I had to have two oral surgeries, when I finished and we were discussing options I asked for a permanent retainer and my practice said they didn't do want to do them since "they break once a month" (which seems like it must be a fault on their part) . Obviously due to this I settled for an invisalign retainer, but Im having a problem i haven't seen anyone else have.
I genuinely can NOT wear my retainers due to sensory issues. I put it in and instantly start bawling. Im essentially in full body pain or overload and it has almost made me vomit from how nauseous I become. This is NOT due to me not wearing it, I've gotten that comment many times, but this was my experience from day one to now.
At this point im very lost and just seeking advice from anybody who may be more knowledgeable on other retainer options, any ways to mitigate the sensory issues, or other advice. I would also like to state that I honestly did not have any sensory issues with my regular braces which is why I initially wanted a permanent retainer.
