So this is just to mainly unwind and find some games that people can play but right now I'm in [Arcade Paradise] (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1388870/Arcade_Paradise/) slowly building up an arcade and beating down high scores.

IGN really thought Mouse: PI for Hire has too much cheese do I picked it up. It's getting a whirl soon.

[Capcom Beat em Up Bundle] (https://store.steampowered.com/app/885150/Capcom_Beat_Em_Up_Bundle/) is something I'm getting into...

[As soon as I put down Absolum

So a bit of indie and retro on my plate. [Not sure what I'll l get different from [last time] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1plf2im/so_what_are_we_playing/) but it is about time to see if people are going into their own gaming backlogs or firing ahead with new games].

Video done by Dalfang

29:18

  • Beginning about the history of how Ubisoft focused on quality in their product and eventually moved to corporate metrics that sacrificed the quality of the product.

  • Failures included in video:

--XDefiant

--Shadows

--Outlaws

  • Resynced is going back to where everything was before it went wrong

  • Edward is different to others in the brotherhood...

  • Ubisoft opted to keep the Havok engine

--Keeping their engine helps them to keep focus on how to reiterate their own craft

  • Ubisoft decision will be similar to Capcom

  • RE6 did not land, RE2 remade, horror revived for Capcom to make Village...

  • Can Ubisoft pull this off with BF?

You can find out more but this is just a summary.

Howdy folks.

You probably remember me from such posts as [Crimson Desert and IGN] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1sikrmj/pearl_abyss_is_giving_free_updates_ubisoft_is/) or you can't spell ignorant without IGN but today I'm doing more of a discussion topic like how I did [months ago] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1pfie9k/discourse_vs_distraction_long_form_media/)

This place gets a lot of tourists. I'm pretty sure you've seen the responses:

> This place is culture war nonsense

> How do you all think like this?

> This sub is insane...

Formation of thought mainly on perception at one time means what this place is becomes the reality for a tourist. That's the normal way. They either leave because they think this place is horrible or stay to insist their belief is the actual reality.

But this week is a bit of something new. And it's linked to one event that occurred in the release of Black Flag Remake

Of course, the deluge of opinions is either for or against it. But the deeper issue is that somehow, this place became a war zone with some focused on [aspects of it] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1sto4bu/assassins_creed_black_flag_resynced_will_have/) that seem [recycled] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1stp8rh/the_combat_system_has_been_entirely_reworked_to/)

So what caused all this? In essence, a lot of people got a nostalgia high.

To explain this, a number of publishers work to have games that are held in high regard and have a panic button that they press. A game that helps to get them out of jail free if they have a rough year.

Square presses the red button on Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy Tactics which brings us the Remake abs Tactics to consoles.

Nintendo has 40 years of Mario. Think Odyssey, Galaxy or anything else and when a new 3D Mario hits, it's an event.

For Ubisoft, Black Flag is one of the most hyped games they can come out with in their years of struggle. So a lot of people can ride that high for a while before reality sets in:

Some people moved to an indie competitor

[Some believe we've hit the definition of insanity] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1su8vvf/everywhere_i_looked_all_these_ac_pricks_thinking/)

[Some are going to be critical] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1stpdta/smooth_animations/)

And the issue will be that more people will look beyond the trailer and see Denuvo or something else that is just as concerning, including [collecting data] (https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckubisoft/comments/1stk0gw/wtf_is_this_and_why_are_they_doing_it/)

So it will be that various things happen and tourists see very little. I'm sure we'll get other issues as time moves on.

Nostalgia can be quite addicting and I'm sure some people will realize the fix doesn't last forever. No matter if it's Ubisoft, Nintendo, Square, I'm sure there's a game you hold in high regard that you want to see more of. But the question has to be asked on whether the publisher or studio can deliver.

For many here, Ubisoft has been failing for the last two years. Skull and Bones, Outlaws, and Shadows are fresh in our minds and there's new games over the horizon that have better reputations that Ubisoft has had. Will this deliver is a fair question.

So enjoy the week as we wonder how long the nostalgia hits.
