Boot and foot misaligned from knee?
I'm almost a month post-orif (1 plate, 5 screws for breaks to the talus and tibia, plus a break to my fibula which the surgeon said was aligned enough not to need surgery), and almost two weeks into boot life. I'm still completely nwb for the next month.
The boot ha definitely been more painful than the plaster cast, but I'm figuring it out. My current source of anxiety, though, is that my foot tends to swing out to the right a little, in relation to my knee.
It's pretty well aligned in the photo, which is just for reference on what the boot looks like. But when I'm sitting up and have my foot down, it's like my knee is at 12:00, and my foot/boot is halfway to 1:00.
So if I want to sit with my boot flat on the ground, my knee has to twist inward a bit, or if I want to sit with my knee straight, my boot is resting on its outside edge, and is less stable.
I've tried adjusting my foot/leg in the boot several times, but the twisting on my ankle is too painful.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this going to mess things up when it comes time to do PT? Historically, I've tended more to being slightly pigeon toed, so this feels especially weird and concerning for me.
