Boys baseball at Mastin Lake, Lakewood and Stoner Field back in the '70s through probably the early nineties was a huge deal and a huge success. There were more kids trying to play than they had slots and teams. These parks would go till midnight with games. What happened? Well the fathers of these kids became absent and therefore it left a mother's who have more important things to do then run to the baseball field. That was the father's responsibility but up north Huntsville all the fathers are now hanging out at the gas stations.
South Huntsville is filled with teams. Fathers everywhere and mothers. Some of them from up North Huntsville have trickled down to the South side. That just shows you a matter of culture and economics. You don't see dad's from the south side hanging out at the Chevron station at midnight. But you see it up north side.
Why is there not a Chick-fil-A or a Target or Panera bread or anything like that on North parkway at Sparkman or mastin lake?
