Totally subjective rating of backpacks in BRM5 based on personal experience

1. LBT-1476A

35 slots, 1.2kg. Offers a pretty flexible and relatively lightweight loadout while balancing distribution of ammo and meds evenly. Can carry well over enough supplies to solo small compounds and enough to make decent progress in completing objectives in larger locations like Fort Ronograd or Naval on your own. Most diverse color options out of any other bag.

2. TSSI TACOPS M-9 Assault Medical Bag

28 slots, 500g. Good carrying capacity for its weight. Has usable MOLLE, but only enough space for tourniquets. Only bag with UCP.

3. SSO ATAKA 2

56 slots, 2.8kg. Dirt-cheap, lets you carry a lot. Only real downside is the weight. Pretty standard colorways, except for EMR and ATACS-AU.

4. Backpanels

24 slots, 450g. For LARP purposes only. They look cool in their own right but are outshined by dedicated standalone bags in terms of inv slots. Not sustainable for long-term deployment and you'll run out of ammo fast if you break stealth.

5. 6B46 "Adler" Three-Day Patrol Backpack

36 slots, 1.7kg. It's 500 grams heavier than the 1476A (of which it is almost visually identical to) and offers nothing to compensate for the extra weight besides 1 extra inv slot and has less camo options. Standard colorways, in addition to EMR.

6. LBT-8005A

24 slots, 570g. Barely distinguishable as MIL-SPEC, you might as well be rocking a JanSport. Black multicam option is split between MAS grey and mcam, which makes it look patchwork and ugly. Has potential to carry nalgene bottles in the side pockets, but atm lacks functionality in-game to do so.

I think it’d be pretty rad to have an experience similar to Ronograd city hall sieges in Operation Resurgence; breaking the skylights, roping down, fending off waves of hostile reinforcements, and cursing out the awful hostage AI path tracking. This isn’t purely motivated by nostalgia, though. This would be a perfect opportunity to introduce a wider variety of content (within reason) pertaining to counter-terrorists and LEO, and more themed updates.

Knowing that BRM5’s update cycle will eventually come to an end, I can accept if they say this kind of content is outside of the game’s scope. They can’t add everything, and they need time to tackle framework challenges like bullet penetration and advanced wounding mechanics.

There are bigger roadblocks to adding hostage rescues besides a potential development slowdown. Roblox’s ToS has experienced several changes in recent years regarding "depictions of terrorism/mimicry of real-world tragic events".

After reading the ToS myself, I can say that it permits a somewhat loose interpretation of a "sanitized" hostage crisis. The devs are actively seeking a workaround to bring back hostages and have already taken the ToS into consideration, but I’ll briefly restate the restrictions for people who don’t know.

Hypothetically, Roblox would allow this if it:

  • Is not a 1:1 copy of its inspiration
  • Is set in a fictional location
  • Prevents hostages from being injured or provides consequences for the player
  • Discourages real acts of violence
  • Does not depict torture
  • Does not depict a real-world insurgency
  • Does not have political or religious imagery

If a depiction of a hostage crisis in a fictional government building in a fictional country is not watered-down enough for the AI moderation, there's still that oil rig raid we may or may not be getting. With a game as big as BRM5 though, I understand that ToS crackdowns are going to be even more strict since it has enough exposure to make it onto the front page. This probably isn't worth the risk of a takedown or an outright ban after almost ten years of effort put into the game. I wouldn’t want to deal with Roblox’s bureaucratic appeals process either.

Regardless, I think we can all benefit from a PvE map where the missions are more grounded and feature plausible high-stakes operations rather than a rehashed save the world plot like in Ronograd.
