I'm planning to visit NYC sometime in November this year (from Australia) but am understandably a little concerned with Trump's new laws on disclosing sex assigned at birth. Has anyone else recently travelled to the U.S. as a tourist and if so how did this process go for you?
I've had my gender legally changed to male in Australia, so my passport will say "M", but the U.S. Visa application will require me to put "F". This means I may be flagged for fraud and investigated, with a possibility of detainment and/or permanent ban. I've heard entry is generally pure luck, with the outcome dependant solely on the specific officer you deal with at the border.
I'm wondering if it may be easier to simply put "M" as my assigned birth sex on the Visa application to avoid any suspicion? Obviously this *actually* fraud, but I pass as a man, have a masculine name, etc— it may simply be the safer option in terms of not being flagged. Unless they run some sort of background check on everyone?
Any help or experience is appreciated, I just want to make sure I won't be wasting a bunch of money on flights only to be sent back home.
