Heading to Shillong with my boyfriend from Guwahati on 18th June for 3 days — first time in the Northeast and honestly a bit confused planning it.

We’re not into very touristy crowded spots, would rather explore quieter waterfalls, viewpoints, maybe some chill parks and light walks (nothing too intense). If anyone had been there recently, what places actually felt worth it and not overhyped?

Also trying to keep things budget-friendly — is renting a scooty practical there or should we rely on shared cabs? How easy is it to get around without spending too much?

How bad is the rain around that time? Like full-day washout or just on/off showers? Trying to figure out what kind of clothes/shoes to carry.

And food — what are some must-try local dishes or cafes that are actually good and not just Instagram-famous?

If anyone else is traveling around 18–20 June, especially couples, happy to connect and maybe explore together :)

Any real advice would really help!

Hi everyone!

I’ll be traveling with my boyfriend from Guwahati to Shillong starting 18th June, and this will be our first trip to the Northeast. We’ll be staying for 3 days, and I’d really love some real, practical suggestions from people who’ve been there recently.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  1. Itinerary (3 days)

- Prefer less crowded, offbeat places

- Interested in waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, mountains, parks

- Not into heavy trekking, but light/short treks are okay

- Any hidden gems or underrated spots would be amazing!

  1. Transportation (Budget-Friendly)

- What’s better: renting a scooty vs hiring a cab?

- Are shared cabs easily available for local sightseeing?

- Approx costs or tips to save money would help a lot

  1. Weather in Mid-June

- How intense is the rain usually?

- Does it rain all day or just for a few hours?

- Any travel disruptions (landslides, road issues)?

  1. What to Pack

- Clothes suggestions considering rain & temperature

- Essentials we shouldn’t forget (shoes, rain gear, etc.)

  1. Food Recommendations 🍜

- Must-try local dishes in Shillong

- Budget-friendly cafes or local spots (veg/non-veg both fine)

  1. Open to Connecting!

- If any couples are traveling around 18th–20th June, feel free to DM!

- Would love to hang out, explore together, or even share travel tips ✨

We’re super excited but also a bit confused with planning, so any help, tips, or even personal experiences would mean a lot!

Thanks in advance 💛
