How does a dragon Awakens?

Useless curiosity for sure, but, title.

I wonder if dragons were just locked into their human forms for millenia and suddenly could turn into giant lizards again on sixth world mana spikes, if they just "hybernated" on the astral plane, or something else.

If you have some references on that, please share!

Parentheses on NPC Attributes

I'm an Anarchy 2.0 foreverGM, and have been converting some NPCs from SR6e to SRA2.0. Some NPCs in 6e have values in parentheses in their attributes such as "A: 7(11)".

What's the parenthesis value? Which one should we use?

SRA2 Quick Reference Sheets

Hey chummers,

I just noticed a mistake on my SRA 2.0 Quick Reference Sheets. In the "Basic Rules" sheet, it listed Cybercombat using LOG, instead of WIL. It was corrected, along with a clearer write-up for how to manage Close Combat defenses. You can just download your updated version for it. If you got it before April 2026, make sure you update it!

I'd also like to thank the amazing support the community gave me with this little pet project. It started to make it easier for my players to find game information and hopefully may be useful at your tables too.

Many thanks and see you all in the shadows.

Hacking Guns

In original SR6, weapons have a wireless bonus: if they're online it grants some perks but also allow decker's to attempt to hack it. Players must consciously turn their bonuses on or off depending on situation.

How do you all deal with that in SRA2.0? Are weapons "always online by default"? Online only if using certain accessories?

How do the foreverGMs in the house manage this?

Disians in SRA2.0

EDIT - I stopped being lazy, grabbed the conversion and made my own adaptation of the Dis Magician so that we can properly terrorize our players. Hope you find it useful!

I'm planning to add some Disians and Chimeras to my Anarchy game. Before I go through the work of converting them from the 6e Plot books, has anyone done that already? Or would you suggest any of the existing statblocks to represent them?

(BONUS STAGE - what would you use for Red Samurai? Elite Security?)

Intro one-shot planning

Next weekend I am running a one-shot for a group of friends. They all are at least familiar with the SR universe (through its boardgames, videogames, older editions etc). It will be more of an opportunity to learn the current rules and a different way to interact with this amazing world. Depending on how this game goes, we may jump into an actual campaign.

I am at a divide and I'd like your opinion on this. Should I make a very typical run, with usual tropes, so they feel the "core" SR experience? Or already foreshadow stuff from the current metaplot (DSW) to see if they bite it and invest on its long term campaign? Or a different route altogether?

Help a GM out, chummer.

Metatypes Differences - a brainstorm

I recently had a surgery so I'm in medical leave at home for some weeks, which got me plenty of time to tinker with SR material and ideas. One such idea was: what if metatypes were more significantly different mechanically?

TBH, this is easily done through the free/first quality and the possibility to spend Edge for advantage if its consistent with narration. Intuitive, but not obvious, especially for newcomers to the system and/or setting.

I came up with these ideas (which are totally brainstorm/experimental) and would love if fellow chummers would pour in their own suggestions (since I cant test them in gameplay for a while). Here we go:

The goal: make each metatype significantly better/consistent at their "identitary traits".

  • Humans: the base model; no change.
  • Dwarves: add "Toxin Resistence" to initial qualities (see below)
  • Elves: may spend Edge to roll AGI and CHA with advantage as a racial trait
  • Orks: may spend edge to roll STR with advantage as a racial trait
  • Trolls: same as Orks; also +1 Armor (hardened skin), +1DV to unnarmed/melee and Disadvantage on social interaction rolls other than intimidation.

OBS¹: Toxin Resistence: spend 1 edge to ignore the effects of one toxin per one scene.

Silly? Obvious? Useful? If anyone wants to entertain the idea, I'm more than glad to debate alternatives (including the alternative of "dude, just play it as it is").

[EDIT - btw, I had a bariatric surgery, annoying but nothing too dreary. I'll be fine!]

Smartlinks in the Shadow Amp Catalog

I just noticed that the term "smartlink" does not appear once in the amazing document put together by Daevan.

I am aware that it is built-in on many cyber eyes, but the lack of the actual term may leave classic SR players lost. After all, it's a super classic SR item.

My suggestion would be adding smartlinks as a weapon equipment (the classic one, which requires a visor to project) but noting on the observations that it is often implanted into a cybereye suite; then, on the descriptors of cyber-eyes, add "Smartlink" to the line that explains the RR so we know where those come from (just like the Pregen runners do).

I hope these suggestions make sense in elevating even more this kickass game aid that we have.

"Identical Additional Drone" Amp Clarification

The table of pg 63 has an Amp Effect called "identical additional drone", adding +2 to the Amp Rating.

I don't understand what it means. The idea here is that once you pick/build a drone, you can pay 2 points for a "clone" of it? So having one Steel Lynx assault drone costs 7, but having two costs only 9?

I feel like this is the idea, but I was afraid it would be too powerful.

How to Boss Battle in SRA2.0

I'm considering a "boss battle" for a run climax, as I know my players would appreciate it. However I've always been more of an intrigue/suspense GM, leaving the endings to rely on some "damned if you do, damned if you don't" sort of choice or dilemma.

I understand that a good "boss" should be more than just high stats; environment and "phases" of the fight might also add up to it.

For what it's worth, the idea is the group needs to leave a compromised site about to crumble, and there's a former Red Samurai between them and the VTOL. Cue boss music!

What advice and suggestions the fine chummers can give me to make this challenging and fun?

(edit - I'm running this game on the amazing SR Anarchy 2.0 rules system, but the advice I seek is probably pretty much system agnostic)

"Run Complication - Need: X"

TL;DR - how to properly incorporate "Needed: Specific Person" on the Run Complications Generator without ruining the run?

The "Shared Storytelling" rules of SRA2.0 are absolutely fantastic for anyone used to solo-RPGs. The Event and Run generators are a blast, and this is only another reason for me to love this edition to no end.

However, on the run complications table, there is a result called "Needed: Specific Person" and "Needed: Rare Equipment" that I didn't really figured out how to properly manage.

On my particular example, I was an ork street-sam invading a hi-tech warehouse after a magical macguffin, stealthed my way to its final room and rolled "Needed: Special Person"; I interpreted that the lock required retinal readings from the owner of the compound, so there was no choice but the elegant option of trashing the whole place and security in attempt to open it.

I'd love some examples on how to incorporate it in a less "Well, you're screwed" manner like it was done for the Spotlight events.

Would love ideas from felloe solo players or the ever amazing u/carmody on this topic!

Riggers, Log or Agi

Usually, when a Rigger is jumped-in, they roll Piloting with Agi or Log?

My group debated the trope in some sci-fi movies where a disabled person or someone in decrepit health condition actually control vehicles or mechas, and it got us thinking.
