How did you prepare for pregnancy? Would you do anything differently?

Hi! I’m planning to start to TTC in about a year, my plan is to use this time to try to get just generally as fit as possible. Right now I run 3x a week getting ~ 15 miles total but I’m trying to work that up to 20 miles. I also lift 2x a week, focusing on compound movements like squats, deadlifts & pull ups with isolation exercises sprinkled in as well. Main goal there is to just keep lifting heavier weight. I’ve also started working with a pelvic floor PT as a more proactive approach (and also to develop the relationship incase I do run into issues while pregnant/in postpartum).

Nutrition wise, haven’t looked into it too much, I currently just try to eat a variety of whole foods, get enough protein and fiber. My Primary care doctor told me to start taking a prenatal 6 months out from TTC to so that’s pretty much all I was planning on adding.

I wanted to reach out to this community to see if there was anything you wish you had done (or could have done) differently leading up to your pregnancy? Would there be anything you would add/change to what I’m currently doing?

I have a lot of anxiety around the body changes/possible loss of function when it comes to pregnancy/postpartum so I’m trying to set myself for the best possible outcome. I know a lot of things are outside my control but preparing my body and my mental fortitude are things I can work on now so I’m trying to focus my energy there.
