I'm looking for recommendations for someone whose favorite book is 'The Bell Jar' by Sylvia Plath.
I love introspective books; I like knowing how the other person thinks and feels, as if I were inside their mind, knowing all the good and all the bad. I usually prefer female protagonists, especially when there’s an element of social commentary or an exploration of femininity and what that means for the character. I enjoy seeing new perspectives and having something to reflect on.
Depression and mental health struggles also catch my interest, or at least those books that are so raw and honest that you can see your own darkest shadows reflected in them. My interests are quite varied, but I’ve been looking for something similar to The Bell Jar, as it’s my favorite book.
I’ve also been thinking about starting to read Patti Smith. The 70s and 90s really appeal to me. I love music, and that messy, artistic lifestyle of 'controlled' chaos is something I find fascinating
