Hey yall, introverted tattoo artist here. I’m about to participate in my first expo ever and I would like to participate in some of the contests.
I know my style is really unconventional and doesn’t fit into the normal tattoo styles so I’m planning in participating in the anime and healed color work section of day one, and the free style or maybe color portion of the second day.
My question is do any tattoo artists have advice on expo pieces? Should I have something in mind? Like what are the judges usually judging on? I don’t do huge pieces or realism or any of that really big flashy stuff so I’ve mentalices myself that I will concentrate on the cleanliness of my lines and work my color magic as usual. But idk if that’s enough?
Also I don’t expect to win any prize, aside from a participation award. It’s my first time ever being surrounded by so many peers at a time and it’s definitely my first time putting myself out there. Really trying not to psyche myself out.
