[Complete] [120k] [Adult Dark Fantasy] The Fool's Blessing
Hi all,
I've never posted anywhere about it but I've been working on a book for about a year now. It would've been a bit longer than 120k words (likely around 160k words) but I was told 120k is a hard max for debut authors and even then, would be hard for a publisher to pick up. I moved that last part into a Book 2 and have started on that as well.
Now to my pitch:
The Fool's Blessing is a morally complex, Multi-POV fantasy book set in another world.
Heroes are summoned from our world to Vilara. Here, they expect glory and fame but are ranked, used and weaponized.
Heroes gain unfathomable power, far eclipsing the strength of the common man.
But therein lies the problem. The 'demon king' was already defeated. There is no immediate threat.
The Gods favor peace, casting divine judgement on those that would disturb it
So what is a hero's purpose in a world that doesn't need to be saved? Of course, the world is not perfect, but is it the characters right to change the world to their ideals? And what happens when those ideals clash?
This first book is about setting up the heroes, how the country they are summoned to molds them, and what brings them to answering that question for themselves.
Sorry for the long post, but if that sounds like something you're interested in, let me know. I've had a few people read parts of it but I think some outsider perspectives would definitely help.
Had to delete and repost cause I messed up in the title of all things.
