Hello,

I’m in a bit of a stressful situation and would really appreciate advice from anyone with experience.

I have a Schengen visa (Austria) valid for 17 days.
- I entered on 01 May 2026
- My visa is valid until 17 May 2026

My return flight was originally on 17 May, but Emirates rescheduled it to 18 May, which means I would overstay by 1 day.

Current situation:
- I’m currently in Croatia but will be back in Vienna on 13 May
- I still have a few days before visa expiry to fix this

Questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully gotten a 1-day Schengen visa extension in Vienna (MA35)?
  2. Is this considered a valid reason (airline reschedule)?
  3. Or is it better to push the airline harder to move me to an earlier flight?

I’m planning to:
- Contact the airline again for a free change
- If not possible, apply for an extension in Vienna before expiry

Just worried because I’ve read even 1-day overstay can cause issues for future visas.

Any advice or similar experiences would really help.
