why do my cuticles suddenly look SO dry in every nail in the photo 😭

why do my cuticles suddenly look SO dry in every nail in the photo 😭

I honestly didn’t notice this until I started taking close-up pictures of my nails, but the skin around my cuticles keeps looking super dry and rough in photos, I'm so frustrated about this.😣

I’m still pretty new to doing my own nails, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is just part of the learning process or if I’m doing something wrong during prep.

I’ve been trying to be more careful withprep so I’m not flooding the cuticles or getting product on my skin. At first I thought maybe I was being too rough with filing or cuticle cleanup, but now I’m realizing I probably wasn’t taking care of the skin between sets at all. I used to only think about cuticle oil right after finishing my nails and then completely forget about it the rest of the week 😅

Recently I started trying keeping a lighter Apuree cuticle oil near my keyboard and using it a few times during the day whenever my hands feel dry for I waanted something more simple/plant-oil based and not super greasy. Weirdly enough, it’s helping mostly because it doesn’t feel super greasy, so I actually use it consistently.

Would love to know any tips for what helped other people get that cleaner/healthier cuticle look over time because mine still always ends up looking kinda crusty in pictures lol. I’d love to hear them. I’m still in the “learning by making tiny disasters” stage now.
