Ok so it happened. I have been reading posts in forums about this being an issue (no recall) with the 11th gen civic. To the car in for an alignment and they found a engine valve cover leak when they did the free inspection.

Check your valve covers and get the replacements while still in warranty. My odo - 24000 kms of mild driving with occasional hard push. Stabbing images for reference.
