[Discussion] is there a way to remove a witch Factor without killing the person?

Have been wondering this for a hot minute. Like is there a way that Gues could've been saved? Or if the theory about Sirius is true, a way to save her? Or is death the only way to get rid of a Authority?

Also if it was removed, would it even matter anymore? That's another thing I wonder, would even removing their Authority even allow them to be saved? Because from my understanding, Betelegues went mad due to Fortuna's "death" and the Authority being incompatible. Pandora doing something to him seemed to be the tipping point.

My OC/Interpretation of Ocean Girl (volume 7 of Overlord, also I'm not a good artist)

Quick drawing I did as an idea I had.

I think it would be really cool if she was a Kraken Heteromorph.

Now, my little theory is she was a from a Large family of Sea Rulers called Krakens that could control the ocean and to a small extent the weather. However the Greed Kings came along and attacked them as well. Teaming up with the Dragon Lords, while not as strong as them, still proved to be powerful allies with their control over the water and support.

However, they, much like the Dragon Lords, eventually began loosing and the Krakens almost went extinct. Save for a few, one of which became friends with Brightness Dragon Lord and he (not literally, she had a similar trait which eventually became a job class unique to her) taught her how to Polymorph into a humanoid. Though since she doesn't use Wild Magic, she retained features such as the frills and some of her tentacles on her back.

After the Greed Kings died. She requested to be left alone in peace but agreed to Brightness Dragon Lord if he or any of the other True Dragon Lords came to her for help, she would come to their aid. But out of a sort of depression of losing most of her species, simply went to sleep in the city at the bottom of the Ocean, forgotten by most people.

Eventually she was awoken during the Demon Gods incident and briefly helped with one of them before returning to sleep, proving to PDL she would keep good to her promise, though, feeling a sort of sympathy for her, he let her return to sleep and didn't ask for her help further with the demon gods.

levels.

Race levels; Baby Kraken [15] Kraken [10] ??? [15] Sea Empress [5]

Job class; ??? [20] Ocean's Beauty [5] (Rare Job class unique to her) Strider [10] Pool Lord [10]

Total level; 90

In terms of her strength, she's the strongest non Dragon Lord ally PDL can come to. Though if she were to fight one of the True Dragon Lords she would lose regardless of which one. Even if she went into her **True Form**

Pool Lord is a job class based in the manipulation of water.

Strider is a skill based on your movement in water.

Oceans Beauty is unique in that she's one of a few creatures who exceeds the 40 job level though she is incapable of gaining further Job classes as Oceans Beauty was only possible thanks to aid from her friend.

Sense of Justice; +35 (Neutral) she is open to making allies but would rather be left alone unless you're one of her friends, then maybe she'd be willing to wake up. After the Greed Kings killed the other krakens, her sense of Justice did go up, feeling saddened at the idea of other species dying out, though she won't act on these feelings in her own.

Relationships with the other Dragon Lords;

Cure Elim Los Malvar/Elder Coffin Dragon Lord; the least willing to work with him. These two briefly met back during the fight against the Greed Kings. She got the impression he was a bully who believed his Wild magic could get him out of any issue. **How pathetic it was when he ran away in fear upon seeing the Greed Kings Revive. Maybe if he stayed, less Dragon Lords and Krakens would've died**

Deep Darkness Dragon Lord; Kind of views him like a little brother due to her being slightly older than him, and him being the youngest of the Dragon Lords. His strong attacks often saved her from the Greed Kings since they were forced to back off. Especially from a certain High Elf. **She hopes he's okay and grew up well**

Brightness Dragon Lord; these two were friends even before the war with the Greed Kings which was seen as quite Odd for a dragon. Though BDL was just strange like that, having Wild magic to turn into other species made him much more sympathetic and empathetic to other species and made it easier for him to make friends of a variety of species. **She hopes to see him again**

Platinum Dragon Lord; She always felt this weird sense of obsession from him. Like he kept trying to fix something, she didn't know why he felt this almost responsibility to protect the world. But she knew that he would do anything to save the world, even if it cost him his life or his comrades life. **She's honestly sort of frightened by that**

... well, I hope you enjoyed this. Sorry if its a little stupid or if you think the drawing/story i made is cringe.

The Captain of the Black Scripture parents, one of them would be the 3rd God-kin in the Theocracy?

All I really know about the 3rd God-kin is they're said by Maruyama not to be considered part of the Slane Theocracy army. Either due to being too young or too old most likely.

I initially thought maybe someone like Read from Mass for the Dead, but that can't be right since he more than likely doesn't exist since the World Eater didn't spawn in the Main Timeline.

Then I believe Clementine mentioned they were a priest in the WN?

Then, my only other two guesses were Rufas and Pontif (guy in second picture) if its someone we already met but I don't think its rufas because he's an undead.

And Pontif.... IDK, maybe he's a 6th tier magic caster? I believe it was said 4 humans had 6th tier magic in the WN so Pontif maybe? But I'm not confident he's the God-kin.

If I had to guess it's probably the dad or they're deceased since the only other named God-kin was Faine and she DEFINITELY didn't have more children. And that's ignoring the age problem since Faine has been dead for like 30+ years while the captain is not even 20 or at least by volume 16 can't be older than 20.

WHO ARE YOU!? Anyways. Based on the LITTLE info we have on the Ocean Girl, how strong do you think she is? (More in description)

Since a we know about her is, she's a girl and she's strong enough to be considered an ally by PDL she must at least be Hero tier and more than likely not a humanoid, or at least not fully human.

Some tiers;

Hero/Outlier tier (30-40) I think is too weak unless she has some CRAZY YGGDRASIL gear which i doubt. That would imply at least an entire Guild base. And adds even more questions.

Outliers/Anomalies (41-49), I think has a better chance, maybe she's really intelligent or has something.

Legend/Myth (50-60), around the same level as the Strongest members of the 13 heroes like Evileye. Honestly she's probably related to the 13 Heroes since Rigrit knows her as well.

God-kin Captain (61-70), Simple now, do you think she's stronger than the captain of the Black Scripture?

God-kin Elf (71-80) do you think she's as strong or stronger then Decem Hougan?

Peak of the New World (81-90) do you think she's stronger than Antilene or Zy'tl Q'ae?

Dragon Lord (91-100) Super unlikely, I don't think her level will exceed 90 unless she's a NPC.

I might do a drawing of my interpretation of her and basically make an OC out of her like Maruyama said to do.

What is some False information or misconceptions about Overlord you've seen a lot of people take as fact?

One immediate one for me is the reason Maruyama is ending it around volume 18. I've lost count of how many people have made some nasty comments about him and think he just suddenly planned to end it with volume 18 after he dropped 16.

When, since The Holy Kingdom, he has tweets saying he planned it to be no longer than 20 volumes and I believe said 17. Then it went up to 18 with volume 16's release. He had ideas for 50 volumes but that's if he explored the entire New World and not novels, ideas. It would probably be closer to 30 anyways.

Does he have burnout? Yes, was it the reason he planned to end it at 18? No.

Maruyama isn't even a full time writer, he's a writer as a hobby and it became a job.

I initially thought Four Great Spirits was a necromancer for some reason that I can't remember, but now I'm pretty confident he's a shaman or some kind of spiritual caster based on his name.

My personal guess is those four floating things behind him are what the name refers too. They probably summon level 20+ (probably upper 20s or maybe 30) spirits that are based on elements if I had to guess or maybe something like ones a support, attack, tank, and a 4th role? We've seen magic items can already be sorr of like that with the inferior (in quality of gear) floating blades that Lakyus has. If the theories that he used to be part of the Holocaust Scripture are true then he was probably an attack magic caster and the spirits I could see playing support roles.

Time Turbulence... I have no idea. He(?) looks to be some kind of fencer but I can't guess much else. Maybe he strikes fast?

To explain what I mean. In my story's world, roughly 1 in 200 humans are born with special bodies that can grow stronger over time. Through their real experiences in whatever they do, their bodies will grow stronger and more in tune with what they want. Once they're born, their bodies already start accumulating this experience until their bodies gain enough and essentially something inside them clicks. From there, their bodies will begin to develop special skills thanks to magic inside their bodies.

The simpler one I'll explain is tier magic. To immediately get it out of the way Tier ≠ stronger. Tier = more complex.

Ex; Fireball is a tier 3 spell like in most fiction with similar systems. It can very easily be much stronger then a tier 6 spell by just packing more magical energy into it. This also However means Fireball is easier to counter.

Think of each tier as a knot, higher tier = more knots. The lower a tier is, the easier it is to counter it or full on cancel the spell. The higher it is, the more it can do and harder/impossible to counter

As well another big thing in my story is talent. Most people who awaken as magic Casters, their brains can only process up to tier 3, tier 4-6 are considered extremely rare and tier 7 is saved for outliers.

Magic this way has also been commercialized, fridges and freezers exist thanks to basic tier 1 cold spells. Phones exist thanks to tier 2 spells but are a bit pricey. Flying machines exist in some countries thanks to the fly spell but are extremely low in numbers due to resources needed and flying creatures. Also fly is a tier 3 spell so the machines need higher tier protections.

------

Moving to the stats.

I do not have a level system. I scrapped that immediately when I conceptualized the story. Stats are a way to show a person who awakened strong and weak ends.

It's structured with a letter system and more is to show what areas grow more as you get stronger.

Ex; the Aptitude stat actually correlates to how fast the body absorbs your experiences and how efficient it is when turning it into new abilities. However until they awaken, their bodies are no different from a normal person.

A large chunk of my worlds information gathering is only possible thanks to the efforts of several generations of magic casters specialized in Information Gathering. But still there's some info they can't gather. Such as the limit.

There's no way to tell when a person will hit their peak. And stats can't account for things like learning speed or personality affecting them. It's simply what the person is born with. So those who decide to live a life of danger will tend to train around their strong suits, or try to learn skills to work around them and be what they want.

Also the letter system goes from E- to A+. I didn't want to add an EX because each persons growth is different from another's. Example; two people can have an A in strength but that doesn't mean its the same value even if both trained for 3 weeks.

They're kind of like Stand Stats from Jojo's in that sense, each persons stats are unique to them even if the numbers are the same as another.

-------

If more info is needed I'll reply as soon as possible.

IMO, I like making Warriors, in worlds which have magic and a wide variety as well, being able to do some crazy stuff or have their own unique version of magic.

Like if you've ever watched Overlord, they have Martial Arts, a concept I really like (I know they're inspired by DND, but I don't dnd myself). And to me makes sense, of course warriors would find a way to balance the scale between magic casters and themselves.

Plus having a system at least similar to it can make fights really interesting and also show the really trained warrior aspect of some characters.

As an example, having a one person be good at holding a blade but another using techniques and abilities similar to magic or maybe war ashes from Elden Ring, completely and easily defeating the other because of the skill difference.

Magic tends to be something you're born with and if you're not you're out of luck, Sure anyone can use a sword, but only those who truly put in the hard work can use these abilities.

Plus IMO it makes writing characters like this more interesting since it's very likely they have ways to counter mages or just make fights more interesting in general to write and have fun with.

I wanted to avoid the magic users because that would be an entire can of worms, same with anyone with the witch factors. Not to mention Reinhard... so I chose 5 characters who I think would be fairly easier to convert from Re Zero to Overlord. One example would be Otto who I think would have a talent that is basically the same as his Divine protection and be low level with a merchant class. Maybe around the 6 to 10 level area.

I'm curious where these 5 would land. The only one I could see being above 40 is Shaula but I severely doubt she'd be level 100.

Elsa and Clementine... they're honestly what got me wondering this. Since you could easily say they're comparable with some extra stuff. So Elsa around level 32?

Garfiel I'm curious about and where he'd land when compared to Kurgan. From what I remember about Kurgan he'd HAVE to be in the realm of heroes. And Garfiel definitely lower level. But where?

Frederica here because I'm wondering how strong she would be.

From my understanding of Re Zero magic, you can be born with one affinity or if your lucky a couple. Or be like Roswaal and have a Divine protection that let's you use all 6.

But... if you're born with an affinity for two, what kind of combinations could you make?

Like fire and earth. Since Fire is just temperature control, could you create Magma or meteors?

Illusion magic? I imagine Wind magic would be involved but what else would be needed? Yin magic?

Electricity is one as well I'm curious about because I can't recall anyone using lightning abilities. Yang magic with Wind magic?

I'm really curious what magic combinations could do.

Also outside of a Divine protection, what is the limit to how many you can have? 5? (If i recall you can only have Yin or Yang normally)

I'm curious to hear about any other possibilities you could make.

Did I get two tuds back to back? Or is something else going on?

Also I do have the finger prick thing but no photo.

As I was writing a character for my story, I'll say her name is V. V is a young girl (20ish) and has powers in swordsmanship and using curses and spirits. She's has been very emotionally and physically abused by her mother, hence her curse powers, representing her mental state.

What is this sounding like?

Crona from Soul Eater. A androgynous teen who has black blood to make weapons and was emotionally abused by their mother...

I realized this and panicked a bit because I've started to feel like I'm plagiarize it without realizing it until I already planned her out for the story and planned an entire growth plot for her, but I'm afraid I'm just copying another character.

Has anyone else ever felt like this? How did you get over it?

I've been making OC's that are from the New World, but one issue i have is the magic caster OC's, mainly because of how to balance them.

Lower level ike 3rd tier is a lot easier because they have less MP and can't afford to do things like cast fly and stay in the air and shoot fireballs. But as you go up... like 5th tier, teleport to dodge, fly, and grand fireball...

What are some weaknesses of magic casters? Warriors are a lot easier to write in this regard because of things like range, magic being more effective, etc.

Besides the physical stat difference, what are some weaknesses magic casters have that a warrior wouldn't?
