My neighbors purchased a home from senior citizens who had been receiving a senior exemption on taxes. The tax assessment on the house has stayed the same for 15 years.

When I was looking for comps to dispute my taxes, I discovered that our neighbors (not senior citizens) are paying 50% of the taxes on a house that is a comp. The two houses have the same number of beds and baths, located on the same street, very similar Zestimate.

How many years before the county catches up with the fact that they don’t qualify for the senior exemption anymore? The house was never on the market, but Zillow does have record of the sale. I am unclear if they have a mortgage or purchased for cash.
