BMW internship in Germany: embassy requires contract for visa, but company requires visa before issuing contract — what should we do?
Hi everyone,
I’m asking for a friend who is currently studying in Switzerland and has received an internship offer from BMW in Germany.
He is now preparing his visa application for a student-related internship in Germany. The issue is that the German embassy seems to require a formal internship contract in order to process or issue the visa.
However, BMW has so far only provided him with the internship offer letter and the internship agreement / approval documents related to the German labor authority. From what we understand, BMW may only issue the official internship contract after the visa has been granted.
So now it has become a bit of a “chicken-and-egg” situation:
The embassy asks for the internship contract before granting the visa, but BMW may require the visa before issuing the official contract.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation with an internship in Germany, especially with BMW or another large German company?
Any advice or similar experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot!
