Both my SSD and HDD spike to 100% random only while I play League of Legends
My first issue is that I still play League of Legends.
That aside, when I play League, usually 1–2 times per game, either my HDD or SSD will suddenly spike to 100% usage, which causes the game to freeze for around 20–30 seconds. The weird part is that this only happens with League. I don’t experience it in any other games.
Some fixes I’ve already tried:
- Reinstalling League entirely
- Testing on both SSD and HDD
- Disabling Discord/NVIDIA/Xbox overlays specifically
- Repairing the Riot Client
- Reinstalling Vanguard
- Turning off Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
- Changing between fullscreen/borderless
- Capping FPS
- Monitoring CPU/RAM usage during freezes
- Resetting the GPU driver with Win + Ctrl + Shift + B
None of these has fixed the issue so far.
At this point, I’m trying to figure out whether this sounds more like:
- a hardware issue
- a Windows/driver issue
- or just a weird League/Vanguard issue
On a side note, around the same time this started happening, I also began having another issue where if my PC goes to sleep, the monitor will turn back on when I wake it, but the screen stays black. I usually have to hard restart the PC 1–2 times before it boots normally again.
Not sure if the two issues are related, but they started happening around the same time, so I figured it was worth mentioning.
Any ideas or similar experiences would be appreciated.
