PCOS Facial Hair, Electrolysis & Hyperpigmentation Advice Needed
I have lean PCOS, and one of my main symptoms is facial hair. I’m also naturally very hairy genetically. I’ve been doing electrolysis for about 5 months on my lower face and neck, but I’ve developed a lot of hyperpigmentation, especially around my upper lip. My skin used to be very clear, but now my cheeks look dark, red, and bumpy.
I started using azelaic acid a month ago, tretinoin a few times a week, and sunscreen regularly, but the pigmentation is still really bothering me. My electrologist also tells me not to shave at all, which has made me even more insecure.
Now I’m thinking about trying laser instead because I wouldn’t have to grow the hair out, and maybe it would cause less pigmentation. The issue is that I have hair all over my face, so I feel like electrolysis may work better for people with only a few thick hairs.
The first picture is from 5 months ago (I grow worse facial hair than), and the bumps/redness picture is from today. I can see some improvement on my cheeks, but not much on my upper lip and chin, and I feel really frustrated and insecure dealing with all of this.
