Digital Patterning? I can't find a viable solution.
This may seem like an odd question, but I have a 2D Pattern I got from a puppet maker and while it is good, I would like to alter it so the head shape is different.
With foam costing what it does where I am, I don't have the resources to trial and error my way to a pattern.
This got me thinking, perhaps there was a way to take the pattern and test it digitally. I created an SVG of the pattern and went looking. Turns out... it isn't easy.
My first thought was Pepakura. So I looked at paid and free versions, but unless I missed something most of them seem to want to start with a 3D model then make the pattern. I couldn't find any that did it in reverse.
I think tried Marvellous Designer. It worked to some degree because it can "sew" patterns, but it isn't built for rigid materials and so even though it made something resembling a head, it was basically fabric.
I looked into blender, but it looks like way too much manual work to make it a quick and effective method.
So, I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any leads that might work for this?
Thanks!
