Valve glaze is honestly getting crazy
To preface, I use Steam, I like Steam, their practices should be the standard, but Valve is not "doing nothing and winning 🤓."
I'm gonna divide this into sections, cuz the shit they get away with just cuz y'all dickride 24/7 is genuinely insane.
Firstly, and something that's easily defendable as not the intended outcome, they killed physical PC games. People will be all like "corps are so evil they don't want me to own anything" meanwhile their Steam library is 1200 deep and filled with games that can be taken away tomorrow if Valve or the developer of the game says so. Again, this is just the starting line, this isn't that big a blotch on their record, because you can easily say it's not their fault and that's actually a fair defense.
Secondly, they invented the battle pass. "But Fortnite popularized it" actually no, Fortnite commodified it, and DOTA 2 popularized it, then league copied it from DOTA, then eventually later on Fortnite got around to it, so it was already spreading BEFORE Fortnite did. That's not saying Fortnite didn't do damage, that's saying the one who gave Fortnite the tools to do so was VALVE. Fortnite swung the mace, but Valve forged it.
Last but not least, they turned all their multiplayer games into glorified online casinos. Any Counter-Strike fan knows this, and at first it could have been whisked away as just a community thing, but Valve is not only allowing it to keep getting worse (for nearly 15 years btw), they're actively SUPPORTING it. They not only popularized the lootbox, theirs' are still to this day the scummiest kind out there, every time i mention valve's lootboxes, and how they should have been sued for that shit 15 years ago, people go "but Activision and EA had them too bro Valve's not that bad bro" THEY ONLY DID IT CUZ VALVE DID IT! THEIR LOOTBOXES WERE BAD BUT AT LEAST THEY WERE FREELY ATTAINABLE AND DIDN'T HAVE THOUSAND DOLLAR PAYOUTS, COUNTER STRIKE HAS RAISED SO MANY KIDS INTO GAMBLING ADDICTIONS. THERE IS NO DEFENSE FOR THIS, NOT ONE, THIS IS SOME OF THE SINGLE MOST EVIL SHIT ANY GAME COMPANY HAS EVER DONE.
That's on top of the dripfeeding content into cs2 that was ALREADY IN CSGO TO BEGIN WITH and the shoddy support on TF2. They also shut down CS Legacy with no valid reason given (and no, they did not steal assets from valve, that's a myth), though again, any CS fan knows it's just because they knew a lot of CS2 players would leave given the opportunity, and they'd stop making money from their online casino.
I know a lot of yall are gonna downvote me and cope, but I don't care, one day yall are gonna get burned by putting too much trust in Valve and it'll backfire, same as it did with Ubisoft, EA, Playstation, etc.
