For transparency i posted in the GP and TRIED posting in other places
So I live in Calgary and i just made this account so i can ask some questions.
I tried joining the main calgary community but my account is so new it won't let me post. So I'm posting in here of hopes that someone may have answers for me.
I just secured a new job yesterday. I start Monday. I haven't worked for 5 months so I'm so excited. Now the problem is I do not get my EI until the 12th. I didn't think I'd actually the job. The problem is I have to take transit and I dont have a bus pass or the bus fare to get there.
I'm wondering if anyone might know how I can do this? Like I said I would of posted in the calgary page but I can't because of me just having made this account.
Is there anywhere that can help me in Alberta for this? Also please note im not posting looking for handouts. I just need to get to work and genuinely looking for places that exist to help with this very thing.
In the GP page a lady told me to call income support. So I called their 24/7 emergency number. They were able to help me with a $21 etransfer. The bus pass is $126. I did post again in the GP page and asked if there was any other places people might know about that could help but no one has been ae to answer. So I'm posting in here because its a bit closer to Calgary and maybe perhaps people might have more answers.
Also I called 211 and they told me to get fair entry to make the bus pass cheaper but they're not open on the weekends.
I was able to get another $30 to go towards the bus pass but its still not quite enough.
So if anyone knows of something thats open this weekend that can help with this let me know :)
Wish me luck yall!
