Steam/Bazzite machine?

I have this old(ish) work laptop running Windows 11 that I play older games with (Red Alert, Age of Empires, Ghost Recon). It also plays Halo MCC and COD MWII pretty well but struggles with COD MWIII.

I’m thinking of installing Bazzite or SteamOS onto it instead of Windows with the hope of getting better performance out of it. I don’t know much about computer hardware compatibilities so I’m not sure it would even be worth it except for the experience of learning how to do it and having a computer running something other than Windows or Mac (I’m a Mac guy, hence why I don’t care to lose the Windows computer to this experiment).

I’m curious what y’all think. Worth trying?

▲ 21 r/Morels

In 2024 we discovered 3 morels in our yard. Last year there were 21. This year yielded 67. They were harvested today and will be enjoyed at dinner tonight.

I’m working on trying to understand the science behind how to clone these things. They’re in an inconvenient place in the yard. With three kids and a dog they’re in constant peril until they’re picked so I’d like to get a second patch growing out of the way if I can. I took all the wash water and trimmed stems and blended it with molasses into a slurry, which I dumped in our woods at the base of a pine tree where all the roots are exposed (a similar environment to where they already grow). I did the same last year on a rotting log but got no results. Fingers crossed!

I have a patch of morels in my yard that has been slowly growing over the last few years. Two years ago there were 3, last year there were 21, and this year I have over 50. The problem is that they’re growing in a very inconvenient area of the yard. With three young kids and a dog the patch is basically under constant threat of being destroyed. I attempted to start a new patch last year in a safer location by using the wash water and dirty stems and mixing it with molasses to create a slurry. I then dumped that slurry over a rotted log in a shady wet area of our woods. This didn’t take, for reasons that may be more obvious to you than me. It was just a method I came across last minute online. I know nothing about mushrooms or mycology beyond the fact that these are true morels and are safe to eat. I also know our property is suitable for growth. We have 1.5 acres of yard and another 1.5 acres of woods.

If there’s a way to do what I want to do (big if?), can you please explain it to me like I’m 5? I’m learning as I go but I definitely don’t know enough to make sense of a scientific explanation. Please and thank you!
