Medical Clearance for Cruise Ship Jobs With Controlled Health Conditions?
wanted to ask if anyone here works on cruise ships while having some controlled medical conditions.
I had varicose vein surgery before, with a small recurrence later, and I also had bowel obstruction surgery in the past.
My blood pressure is under control with medication, and my cholesterol is currently improving with medicine and diet. I’m also working on reducing my BMI.
The main thing worrying me is that during an effort/stress test, doctors noticed something doubtful and asked me to do a coronary CT scan. Nothing is confirmed yet. I also take medication for extra heartbeats/palpitations, and I heard it can return to normal.
I’m applying for cruise ship receptionist/front desk positions, so I wanted to ask:
How strict are cruise medical exams really?
Has anyone passed while taking medication for blood pressure or heart rhythm?
Would previous surgeries automatically cause rejection?
I’d appreciate honest experiences from current or former cruise staff.
