Recently got into whetstone sharpening and got an Atoma 140, Shapton glass 320, Shapton pro 1000 and Naniwa gouken Arata 3000. My lovely girlfriend found an STL for the stand/drying rack and modified it so it would fit my stones. She’s so amazing!

I recently fell down the rabbit hole and ordered a Shapton pro 1000, 2000, and an atoma 140 for flattening. People recommended ordering a replacement atoma 400 plate to stick to the other side of the atoma 140 for lapping and flattening.
I’m also interested in the Shapton glass 500 for a lower grit stone but I’ve read that the glass 500 performs similarly to the pro 1000.
Would it be redundant to buy the atoma 400 and the Shapton glass 500?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a lower grit 300-500 for initially setting the bevel? I’ve heard good things about the Naniwa 400

Only used a handful of times, just switched back to stones. The plates have been broken in nicely, only minor issue is the strop has a tiny nick out of it. Still works just fine.

Only used a handful of times, in great condition except…. I had a mishap while drying them which resulted in the ends being chipped on one of the coarse and fine stones, the other two are in perfect condition. The chips don’t affect usability, I just put the damaged ends in the base.
