Hi, I’m having a weird cellular issue on my iPhone 14 Pro.
I recently did a quick start from my iPhone 12 Mini to my iPhone 14 Pro and the 12 Mini has the same issue.
Whenever I open apps like safari or instagram, my signal sometimes suddenly drops to 1 bar and the LTE/5g indicator disappears for a few seconds, then comes back. It doesn’t happen every time, but often enough to be annoying.
Whats strange:
- Happens on both LTE and 5G
- Happens in different locations
- Also happened in another country with a different SIM/carrier
- I’m currently using a physical SIM
- I had a similar issue on my previous iPhone (12 mini)
Signal stats (from Field Test):
- RSRP around -79 dBm (strong)
- RSRQ around -15 dB
- SINR varies (~7 dB, sometimes lower)
Things I’ve tried / noted:
- Airplane mode temporarily fixes it
- Seems more likely to happen when starting network activity (opening apps, loading content)
- Not clearly tied to movement (can happen while stationary)
I’m trying to figure out whether this is:
- A hardware issue (antenna/modem)
- A SIM-related issue
- Or some kind of iOS / baseband bug
Any ideas or similar experiences would help a lot.
