After a few hundred hours in Icarus, something started to stand out to our group.

Storms feel great. They create tension and memorable moments.

But outside of storms, fair weather often feels very static.

A “good day” is usually always equally good. Same sky, same light, same feeling, same power output once your base is set up.

What feels missing is the subtle variation real environments have.

Some days are crisp and bright.
Some are hazy.
Some start with morning fog.
Some have light cloud cover.
Some are almost windstill, others have a steady breeze.

Nothing extreme. Just different.

We started thinking how that could make the world feel more alive. And it also connects quite naturally to systems.

Solar could fluctuate slightly with light conditions.
Wind could vary outside of storms instead of just spiking during them.

Not huge swings, not punishing. Just a bit of natural variation.

It wouldn’t make the game harder. Just less predictable in a good way.

Curious if anyone else feels this or if this never stood out to you.

I also put this into the feature board if anyone wants to take a look:
