Hi everyone, I’m looking for some general advice.

I’ve been dealing with an appliance issue in a rental unit for about 12 months.

• For the first 6 months, there wasn’t a proper working solution
• After that, I arranged my own replacement
• For the remaining 6 months, the situation was partially manageable, but the original issue was never fully resolved
• There were a couple of follow-ups, but it wasn’t continuously escalated

The landlord is now offering $1,500 total as a full settlement, which seems to include the replacement cost plus a small amount for inconvenience.

From what I understand, this might fall under a rent abatement type situation through the Landlord and Tenant Board.

Questions:

1. Does $1,500 seem reasonable for something like this?
2. What kind of rent abatement % is typical in similar cases?
3. Is it generally worth pursuing further, or better to settle?
