What’s the perfect balance?

What do you guys think is the best blend of fantasy and romance within a book, me personally I prefer for the book to have a more stable and established fantasy core, where then the romance aspect wraps around it, but isn’t necessarily the central driving figure within the story, and there are equally more dramatical elements within it,

What do you guys think?

Do you guys feel there’s a bit of lost potential?

I have to say I really like this series it’s intriguing and has a lot of curious elements to it, I grew up reading how to train your dragon and as an adult loved game of thrones, but I have to say the dragons were a big disappointment, defined by color and tail type, it seemed incredibly dull, especially compared to the standard set by Cressida Cowell, I understand it’s difficult to develop 100s of dragon types but in a dragon world you’d expect it.

Furthermore I have to state I am more of a fantasy person than I am a romance person, I value character and arcs, with meaning. But if we’re to list the most emotionally complex characters, it would be Ridoc, Imogen, Xaden and Liam’s sister, as the most prominent, as an MC, Violet never really clicked for me as a person that was the main character and there were inconsistencies. I didn’t like what was done with Dain because it seemed forced for the plots sake, and im still confused about the magic system (which I’ve realized most of the fandom is also still confused lmao),

But what do you guys think I’m curious, is the series appealing due to the actual plot and drama, or rather the romance and devotion presented, as you guys put yourself in violets shoes?
