Currently out of games to play. I am very picky though, so its a little bit more difficult than just opening the steam shop, so I decided to reach for help to you guys.
Lil' bit about my tastes: I am not really into the challenge. Such stuff as souls likes, difficult platformers, especially shooters etc. are out of the game. Would prefer if it was 2D or atleast not with too much intense motion.
I adore linear platformers. In my list of favorite games the top 10 would definitely have Battle Block Theater and Rayman Legends in it. I would like something different now, kind of got tired of them after replaying BattleBlock after the April 1st QOL remaster.
You would probably be surprised why I don't like metroidvanias then, but the reason for that is that I don't really like monotone level design, and they also really consume alot of time to actually progress through. Some more simpler and linear metroidvanias (e.g. Cave Story) get a pass from me though.
Also, I mostly fall in love with games for their aesthetics, rather than the gamplay. For example, something like FAITH - The Unholy Trinity. The game play isn't too appealing, in fact, it some places are just so poorly executed and kind of janky to the point where its frustrating. But the rest... My god... All the way from the title screen to the level decorations to the cutscenes, the visual design of this game will forever be stuck in my heart. The creepy sound design, which is low quality on purpose, the spooks, the storytelling, the.. just.. EVERYTHING resonates with my child in my head and makes it goo-goo ga-ga like crazy.
TLDR: I love alot of games just for their aesthetics, and this one is just the best example. The gameplay isn't even that good but at the same time it just works so well combined with this game's atmosphere and story. I would love if you gave me games which are good for the same reasons, but don't try to give me something similar. Most horror games like this are kinda dull.
Speaking of story-driven games, I also loved Danganronpa alot. If you decide to bear through from the anime brainrot and stupid fanservice, which, if you're like me, you had of it up to your throat already, you will find something brilliantly creative. The writer, when his LSD trips stop, just nails the atmosphere of the isolation and despair. The setting of the main game events is perfect too. And I'll never forget the experience of solving some cases (Danganronpa 2 (Spoilers)>!Gundham Tanaka&Nekomaru!<case my beloved). The way the game actually forces you to think and combines all the pieces of actually difficult cases is so fun. My favorite game of the three is Danganronpa 2, love the 1'st one too. So yeah, I may like a visual novel, but I would like if it would have some gameplay stringed in with it.
Also, instantly as you see words "chill" and "laid back", you'll probably storm me with sandbox suggestions. However, I don't really like most of them. I liked Slime Rancher, however Stardew Valley, which is considered a cult classic, kind of wasn't my cup of tea. Liked it for the first multiple hours, when I was first introduced to the world and had something fresh coming to me, however as the summer came around and I realised that nothing much new will come, I felt like it was too repetitive and dropped it. So yeah, anything that kind of falls off once you stop carrying it with your own creativity is not really my thing.
Also, maybe I would like a roguelike or two. Just not too too intense or difficult. I liked playing Peglin and Balatro, also played Hades alot.
Anyways, I've probably said more than I should've. Wish you had enough patience to read through all this yapping... 😂 Waiting patiently for your suggestions!
