I’ve recently taken in a 3 year old Cavapoo, he’s a sweet boy but is terrified of humans, he was rescued from a puppy farm so I dread to think what the dear soul went through there. His mistrust of humans is making it hard to toilet train him though, he will go out into the garden, but only if the door has been propped open, he won’t walk past me to go outside. I have a cockapoo that is well toilet trained so I am hoping that he will learn from him eventually, but it does seem to distress him when he toilets in the house. Just wondering if anyone’s been able to successfully train a scared dog or is it just a case of being patient until he learns to trust that I won’t hurt him?
