I'm using the assisted pull-ups machine to help with muscle up progression. Video for context look up “learning to muscle up with assisted pull-up machine” on YouTube, I couldn’t post the link.

Coach came to me to say I can't use the machine that way, either do basic pull-ups on it or not use it. He tried to overwhelm me with "physics talk" about how it's not designed to go all the way up and down. I disagree with that.

What can I do to prove him wrong and exercise in peace? We don't have resistance bands and I can't buy my own for now, so this is the only way to learn muscle ups for now.

Edit: I’m also a certified coach, so I understand pretty well what can and can’t be done on a machine. He just doesn’t know that I am and thinks I’m just training haphazardly.

Edit 2: 5 other coaches at the gym see me do the same exact thing 3 times a week and have actually commended my use of the machine. It’s only this one guy (who’s a known know it all btw) who complains
