my grandma passed last year without a will. she wrote her wishes down and had the promise from her daughter that when the time came she’d carry out her wishes. here’s the annoying part, because my grandma was too elderly to get a mortgage her daughter got the mortgage under her name. my grandma was the one who paid the deposit and every single cent of the mortgage for 11 years. now that my grandma has passed, guess what’s happened? her daughter is keeping the house all to herself.
my grandma wanted her house to be sold and split 1/3 to her daughter, 1/3 to her son and the last 1/3 to be split between two of her grandchildren.
the daughter lawyered up very quickly and we were told we cannot contact her anymore. I’m one of the grandchildren who is meant to get a share. I have been told my parents are being greedy and that they have too many assets and that’s somehow a justification for not carrying out my grandma‘s wishes. I don’t know how any daughter can make a promise to their mother and not follow through. she’s the greedy one.
to continue our legal battle is going to costs too much unfortunately. family members have refused us from seeing bank records, the bank said we must have permission from every sibling, we believe they have also been taking money from my grandmother.
oh and the worst part? these people have got my father trespassed from his own mother’s grave. They have made false allegations to the police, the police didn’t even ask my dad’s side of the story. They claim my father drove over my grandma‘s grave and left tyre marks and also dug a small hole (innocent explanation - lawn mower and rabbits in the area). now that my father has spoken with police they still won’t lift the notice even though it’s just their word against his. They have no evidence that he did such a thing, because why would he?
so yeah, pretty heartbroken atm (and not because I’m losing my inheritance, but because these people have disrespected my grandma’s final wishes)
