I am currently doing my base for my upcoming hot tub and I was wondering if using a vibrating compactor machine is mandatory for this type of work or using a simple tamper is OK.

I dug 11 inches deep, put 8 inches of 3/4 gravel, compacted with the tamper multiple times along the way. Then put 3 inches of rock dust and used tamper for a while.

Now when i ask chatGPT it says i absolutely need to use a vibrating compactor, it says i need to dig the dust & gravel out and start over but using the vibrating compactor.. or else the hot tub will definitely sink.

Thoughts?
