I *thought* I had sprained my ankle, three weeks ago. It turned out to be a broken displaced fibula. I had a successful operation for it a week ago. I have another week in a cast, then I’m told it’s four weeks in a boot before putting weight on it.
I’m 63, but active - regular tennis for many years and had been doing weight training for three months before this. What’s my realistic full recovery time - ie back to playing tennis? What I can do in the weeks ahead to speed recovery? When can I likely start doing some weight bearing such as walking short distances?
I’ve continued doing chair-based weight training. I also move my leg within the constraints of the cast quite often (but no weight bearing). Is it ok to flex muscles? Should I be beware of overdoing this? Are there exercises I can start to do soon? What can I do with the boot that I can’t with a cast? Again, do I need to beware of doing too much?
Any advice gratefully received, thank you!
