Landlords: are any of you accepting rent payments through credit cards now?

I’ve noticed more Canadian payment platforms popping up that let tenants pay rent through credit card while landlords still receive Interac e-Transfer or direct deposit like normal.

From a landlord perspective, I’m curious:

  • does this change anything operationally?
  • any issues with failed payments/chargebacks?
  • are tenants actually using it regularly?
  • any downsides compared to standard e-Transfer setups?

Seems like more renters are trying to earn cashback or points on rent payments lately. Curious whether landlords here are seeing that trend too.

Anyone paying med school tuition with a credit card?

Anyone making med school tuition payments with credit cards?

Curious what people are actually doing in practice:

- paying directly through the school?

- Interac/e-transfer?

- using a payment platform (e.g., chexy or neobanc)?

- just avoiding fees entirely?

Mainly wondering whether anyone has found setups where the rewards actually outweigh the fees, especially for large one-time tuition payments.

If anyone is looking at Neobanc or Chexy, find a summary and referral codes below.

Neobanc:

- 0% fees with Interac or 1.75% with credit cards

- up to 2% cashback on rent

- 1% cash back on bills (including credit card bills)

- 0.5% cash back on mortgage payments

Chexy:

- 1.75% fee

- Earn Aeroplan + CC rewards

I’ve used both — Neobanc is better if you want no fees, Chexy if you’re chasing points.

Neobanc referral code (up to $100 bonus; $5 per payment over $1,000+):

Chexy referral code ($20 credit when completing first payment and use CANADIANTSHIRT promo code to get your first payment free as well):

I’ve been researching which credit cards actually make the most sense for paying rent and condo fees (especially now that platforms like Chexy, Neobanc, and Casa make it possible to pay by credit card).

From what I can tell, premium travel cards seem to come out ahead despite the processing fees, mainly because of the value of points + welcome bonuses.

Some that seem strongest:

- Amex Cobalt
- Amex Platinum
- TD / CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege
- Marriott Bonvoy Amex

If you redeem points well, it seems possible to get ~1.5–3%+ effective return, especially toward travel.

For cashback, it feels more straightforward:

- Rogers Red World Elite
- Wealthsimple Visa Infinite
- Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite

The math obviously depends on:
- monthly rent amount
- payment platform fee
- whether the payment codes as recurring
- how you value points
- whether you’re chasing welcome bonuses

Curious what everyone here is using for:
- rent
- condo fees
- property taxes
- utilities

Are you optimizing for cashback, Aeroplan, lounge access, status, or just simplicity?
